Frank Carter Breathes New Life Into The Sex Pistols In Glasgow

Seminal UK punk band Sex Pistols continued their tour with Rattlesnakes frontman Frank Carter in Glasgow last night, at a sold-out O2 Academy.

The band, made up of Paul Cook, Steve Jones and Glen Matlock, and energised by one of the brightest talents on the UK punk scene, were in fine form as they tore through Never Mind The Bollocks (in no particular order), plus the band's signature covers of My Way and No Fun.

Fans of Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes won’t be surprised to read that he was on incendiary form as he leapt around the Academy stage, as well as delivering on number from the midst of a huge circle pit. Carter always seems to feel more at home in the crowd rather than in front of it, and this show was no different.

The question everyone was asking before this tour kicked of was “But is he as good as Johnny Rotten?” and this has been answered definitively. Where Rotten seemed to spend his career showing an active disdain for his fans, Carter brings a huge dose of the community spirit that defines the hardcore scene to the band, and with it a new voice to the classic hits.

Time will tell whether this project continues past the remaining tour dates this week, but it’s not hard to imagine this band just being billed as The Sex Pistols in the not too distant future.
