Iggy Pop returns!!

Iggy unfortunately canceled his Desert Trip headline festival dates from last year due to his French Band and their visa issues, but now he is back with an amazing rock record, Every Loser, produced by Andrew Watt for his label, Gold Tooth/Atlantic Records.  The album features the late great Taylor Hawkins of The Foo Fighters on drums, and Andrew Watt and Dave Navarro from Jane’s Addiction on guitar.

For this brief tour Iggy out did himself, recruiting Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duff McKagan from Guns + Roses, Andrew Watt and Jamie Hince from The Kills.  This show on April 23th, 2 days after Iggy’s 76th birthday, at the beautiful Orpheum Theater in downtown Los Angeles is one of only six.

The 90 minute gig was a blistering history lesson of all that is Iggy, from the amazing current album, Every Loser, to various parts of his 6 decade career with the Stooges and solo.  This may well have been one of his finest shows ever. Iggy himself was on fire, strutting the stage, singing at his best, running into the audience and also inviting the crowd on stage to share his energy.  The all-star band members were clearly loving being on stage with Iggy, as well as taking his songs to a whole new level of superb and fun musicianship.

Iggy played the hits - Gimme Danger, Search and Destroy, TV Eye, The Passenger, Lust For Life, Raw Power and a beautifully subdied version of Nightclubbing.  What was mind blowing was his encore with a wonderful version of Lou Reed’s classic “Walk On The Wildside “, and then he ripped into “I Wanna Be Your Dog", and finished with a drum wrecking version of "Louie Louie" – all in all a great, brilliant event!!!
