If you've ever gone for a job interview that didn't work out, then today is the day for you... let's dive into musical history, 10th May style.
1960: John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison auditioned for the role of Billy Fury’s backing band. They didn’t get the job, but things turned out ok in the end.
1986: Pet Shop Boys No. 1 in US with West End Girls. The single had already hit No. 1 in the UK, and would go on to become one of the band’s biggest hits and a firm fan favourite.
1991: Madonna’s ‘In Bed With Madonna’ (known as ‘Truth Or Dare’ in the USA) premiered in Los Angeles. The film caused a stir around the world, and cemented Madonna's position as pop royalty.
1999: Songwriter poet, film-maker and author Shel Silverstein died. He famously won a Grammy for ‘A Boy Named Sue’ (written for for Johnny Cash), as well as a number of classic tracks for Dr Hook.
