#GirlsToTheFront As Women Dominate Brits ‘21

Featured Photo

Female artists left the O2 Arena in London with 70% of the awards on offer last night, and won all but one of the mixed gender categories, in a groundbreaking night for the Brit Awards.

Two years after fans worldwide called out the Brits’ organisers for apparent male bias, the ladies have turned the tables and firmly answered the question “but where are the female headliners?” They’re here, and they’re coming for your festivals.

Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks, Billie Eilish, Little Mix, Griff and Haim all left with a trophy or two, as well as the inimitable Taylor Swift, who carried off the Global Icon award, but sadly didn’t perform. They could have made it a clean sweep too, had Dua Lipa not been robbed of the Best British Single category, which can only be put down to a pity vote for Harry Styles, who had clearly lost a bet, given his choice of suit.

As the first event in the O2 as part of the U.K. government’s Events Research Programme, all eyes will be keenly focussed on test results in the following weeks, but for now, let’s celebrate female artists going viral for once.
